Poll Types

Polls and surveys on the platform can differ based on visibility and audience or on the structure and type of responsesthey allow.

Based on visibility and audience, a poll or survey can be posted as:

• Public – visible to everyone on the platform.

• Public Targeted – visible to a specific demographic or audience segment.

• Private (Shared with Circles) – visible only to selected users or groups.

• Anonymous – where respondents’ identities remain hidden.

Based on question structure and response type, polls can be categorized as follows:

1. Multiple-Choice Polls

A multiple-choice poll presents a question with at least two or more possible answers. Respondents can choose one or multiple options depending on the settings defined by the poll creator.

Note: A poll with two options is not automatically a two-sided question. For instance, a question about preference (e.g., “Do you prefer cats or dogs?”) does not imply that one answer excludes the other.

In the poll settings, the contributor can choose whether to allow only one answer or multiple answers per question.

2. Ranking Polls

A ranking poll asks respondents to order or prioritize a list of options based on their preferences—typically from most to least preferred. The results show the relative popularity or importance of each option.

Example:
Rank the following outdoor activities from most favorite (1) to least favorite (5):

1. Hiking in the mountains

2. Biking along scenic trails

3. Camping in the wilderness

4. Rock climbing on challenging cliffs

5. Fishing by a serene lake

3. Two-Sided Questions

A two-sided question presents two opposing or contrasting options, ideas, or points of view. Each side can include text, images, articles, or videos to represent its argument. Respondents must select one of the two options, making it a clear, binary choice.

Examples:

• Do you believe that America should ban the right to bear arms?

  • Yes

  • No

• Girls, what would you do if you were your boyfriend for a day?

  • Option A

  • Option B

4. Open-Ended Questions

An open-ended poll asks respondents to write their answers in their own words instead of selecting from predefined options. The collected responses are later displayed as a word cloud, where the most frequently used words appear more prominently.

What’s the most important quality you look for in a leader?

5. Surveys

A survey is a sequence of multiple polls or questions designed to collect more comprehensive insights on a specific topic. Once users understand how to create individual polls, they can combine them into a survey for deeper analysis.

Example Survey: Online Shopping Habits

1. How often do you shop online?

2. What types of products do you most frequently purchase online?

3. What factors influence your decision to shop online rather than in-store?

4. How satisfied are you with the variety of products available online?
